Consequences of not Updating your Patches!

This is week two of our seven week showcase of services we offer! This week we are going to focusing on the importance of Patch Updates; today we will be looking at different scenarios that could happen if update your patches.

There are many consequences you could face for not updating a patch. When a patch is released, the update becomes public knowledge. Attackers now know the problem and can rush to start exploiting it as soon as possible before people update. Attackers know that business and home users are often slow to update, and they can get into their systems before people apply the patch. Hackers can do many things once they have gained access to your computer; this ranges from putting a key logger on your computer so they can see everything you type, collecting passwords and bank information, to encrypting files on your computers so you cannot view them.

Many people do not realize that clicking the “remind me later” button may have such serious consequences, especially, if you are online for an extended amount of time. People generally think that viruses only get into their system when downloaded or in a email, but that is untrue. By just browsing web pages you are opening your window up to intruders. Our Managed Services Software installs patch updates as soon as they are available. By the time that hackers get a chance to exploit the now outdated software, you will have already installed the newest update preventing any malicious activity.
